Video: Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has onstage meltdown, tells crowd “I’m not f**cking Justin Bieber”

Green Day, 2012

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong had a meltdown on stage on Friday night, as his band’s set was cut short at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

The video below captures the moment, as Billie Joe Armstrong stops singing “Basket Case” mid-song as he is incensed by a sign telling the band they have 1 minute left to play. Green Day had their set cut short, leaving Billie Joe furious as he rages on stage with a rant against the festival staff and “fucking Justin Bieber”, before smashing his guitar, then flipping the bird and exiting the stage shouting, “One Minute! God fucking love you all! We’ll be back!”

Billie Joe’s epiphany that he is not Justin Bieber and is in fact the lead singer of one of the greatest punk rock bands ever, can only be a good thing for the future of Green Day. The fact Green Day’s new album Uno releases on Tuesday is pure coincidence, of course…

Here is Billie Joe’s meltdown in full:

“Oh fuck this shit. I’m gonna play a fucking new song.

Fuck this shit.

Give me a fucking break. One minute left. You’re gonna give me one fucking minute?

Let me tell you something, I’ve been around since nineteen-eighty-fucking-eight, and you’re gonna give me one fucking minute?

You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me! You’re fucking kidding me. What the fuck!

I’m not fucking Justin Bieber, you motherfuckers.

One minute.  God fucking love you all. We’ll be back.”

Billie Joe Armstrong, we salute you. This is Youtube gold:

Ya, know in lieu of what happened, I believe that the lead singer of Green Day….has every right to speak his mind! He has passion, strength, assertiveness, which many entertainers don’t have or choose not to. Sending him to rehab is not the answer. It’s todays society that puts pressure on everyone to “do the right thing”…being politically correct…REALLY!?! So in people’s minds it’s not ok to express how you feel? Give me a break, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE, seriously!!
