Happy Robbie Burns day! In celebration of Scotland’s national literary hero, here are five new bands from my homeland that you need to hear.
Django Django – “Default”. This brand new video was released last week. These guys are fab. Hoping – nay, expecting – to see Django Django on the bill of some top festivals this summer, not least at T in the Park in Scotland.
Olympic Swimmers – “Apples and Pears”. From Glasgow. Find this song on their debut EP at Bandcamp for just ₤3. Olympic Swimmers on Facebook.
Lenzie Moss – “Kelvin British Summetime”. Previously a member of Music and Movement, Teenage Fanclub, BMX Bandits and Speedboat. Lenzie Moss on Bandcamp.
Cleavers – “Casual Box”. Hailing from Elgin, Moray. They are generating a buzz on the DIY hardcore & punk circuit in North Scotland and broke onto BBC earlier this month. Find them on Facebook.
The Machine Room – “Your Head On The Floor Next Door”. Find them on Facebook. If the Smiths were from Edinburgh….
