Iron Maiden’s new album Final Frontier has taken the number one spot in the UK album charts. Maiden’s new record came out on Monday, 16 August and has knocked Eminem off the #1 spot, who topped the charts last week with Recovery. Maiden had competition for number one spot from British girl group The Saturdays, with their new ‘mini album’ Headlines taking the #3 spot in the album chart.
Final Frontier becomes the fourth studio album by Iron Maiden to top the UK album chart and becomes their first number one album in 18 years; previous number one albums were The Number Of The Beast (1982), Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (1988) and Fear Of The Dark (1992).
Final Frontier also made it to #1 in Australia, while the record has enjoyed further first-week chart success worldwide, also taking number one spot in Sweden and Finland.
The chart success for Final Frontier comes off the back off of North American and European tours for the album, with the last date of the 2010 tour being played in Valencia, Spain yesterday, 21 August. Iron Maiden go back on tour in 2011, with seven dates Australian scheduled in February, including five dates at Soundwave festival.

up the irons!
Brilliant. So pleased to see a REAL band back on top of the charts. The fact that Iron Maiden got a number 1 album again 28 years after their first just shows the legacy and immense popularity that they have.
