August 1, 2011

Kings of LeonKings of Leon have cancelled all dates on their current summer US tour. The news comes following a turbulent gig in Dallas, TX last Friday.

KoL cut short their show in Dallas on Friday, 30 July after singer Caleb Followill left the stage to vomit. The following day, drummer Nathan Followill took to Twitter to apologise to fans:

“So sorry Dallas, your heat got the best of a few of us. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience of all this bullshit. We’ll be back soon./Ashamed & embarrassed by last nights fiasco. Can’t apologize enough, utterly gutted. A million I’m sorry’s.” – Nathan Followill on Twitter, 30 July

All upcoming US tour dates have been cancelled. Kings of Leon are expected to recommence touring on 28 September at the Rogers Centre in Vancouver. Nathan Followill and bass player Jared Followill spoke this afternoon about the cancellation on their Twitter accounts; both denied rumours that the band are breaking up:

“Utterly depressed. It’s completely out of my hands. Family has to come 1st. If bass solos & backing vocals were more popular, I’d be there./Thanks to all my friends, family, & fans. I’m not going to stop working. I’m going to spend time writing songs and looking to the future. Don’t jump to conclusions guys./We’re not breaking up.” – Jared Followill on Twitter, 1 August 2011 4.00-4.15pm EST.

“Bummed about the tour not happening. So sorry 4 all the fans. We just need some rest. Thanks 4 understanding. WE ARE NOT BREAKING UP!” – Nathan Followill on Twiter, 1 August 4.40pm EST.

Nothing in rock and roll is true until it is denied… I remember seeing them live and they continued to bicker amongst each other… then the drummer threw a tantrum and left…when they were hungry they had passion now they have money and drugs… what more do they need?
