The Royal Mail have unveiled a set of stamps celebrating some classic British rock album covers. This limited edition collection of stamps goes on sale today, Janurary 7, in Post Offices throughout the UK and includes many classics such as The Clash’s London Calling and Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Primal Scream’s Screamadelica in the collection – great band and awesome artwork. But what, no Beatles? I guess they couldn’t afford to get Sgt. Peppers… and the White album was out of the question. Perhaps the most debatable choice of the ten stamps is Coldplay’s A Rush of Blood to the Head. Coldplay? Really? Not on my stamp!
The stamps have some historic importance because normally a living person is not allowed to appear on a British stamp except for the Queen or some other member of the royal family.
