BREAKING NEWS: Winter is set to come to an end tonight. The arrival of spring will be celebrated with a special event in Toronto this evening.

All around the city, anticipation has been spreading for the arrival of this event, and the warmth that comes with it. Rumour has it that a similar event happened a few years ago, as on the dawn of spring members of Metric were in a record store while discussing which 1960s British rock band they would rather be. Metric then infamously recorded this conversation as a song. Yes, here comes the sun, indeed…

‘Long Winter, Volume 5’ takes place from 7pm tonight at the Great Hall (Queen and Dovercourt), in a pay-what-you-can event where winter is set to be banished amid celebrations with music, art installations and karaoke.

Some revellers are set to party through the night at the Great Hall with a slumber party. (It’s 19+ only, and no funny business.) When these grown-up kids awaken on Saturday morning to roll out onto Queen St, they will be able to smile freely as the air will no longer hurt their faces.

Music: Cancer Bats / Fiver / S.H.I.T. / Greys / You’ll Never Get to Heaven / Ravi Naimpally / JFM / Pick a Piper / Brr / Grounders / So Young / Gaucho / Huren

Special guests Fucked Up will also be playing. Does that mean new material from Year of the Dragon? I think so.

Get excited. Spring is coming! You will be able to feel your fingers again… SOON!
