Canada and the US

North By North East (NXNE) Festival in Toronto, ON – 14-20 June
The biggest music festival in Canada is back. Hundreds of indie bands, with plenty of homegrown talent together with a great compliment of major touring artists. There are way too many great bands to list here, but the headliners Iggy and The Stooges are NOT to be missed – see them at Dundas Square on June 19th. Other highlights include Cold Cave, Japandroids, Zeus, Eagles Of Death Metal and the Raveonettes. Build your own schedule at Just don’t miss the Stooges, whatever you do.

Toronto Island Concert – 19 June
It’s unfortunate that this concert clashes with NXNE, but on the plus side the first 250 people to arrive at the Mainland Ferry Box Office with NXNE badges or 5-Day wristbands to cross the water will get in for free. Pavement are headlining: just imagine how awesome it’ll be to hear “Gold Sounds” reverberating through the airwaves on a summer evening on the island… there’s your reason to go to this one.

1:00 PM Gates open
1:15 PM Toronto Revue (featuring The Beauties, Flash Lightnin’ and Zeus)
2:45PM Timber Timbre
4:00PM Beach House
5:15PM Band of Horses
6:45PM Broken Social Scene
9:00PM Pavement

United Kingdom

Glastonbury Festival – Worthy Farm, Pilton, England, 23-27 June
The best news is probably that U2 won’t be there – Bono’s done his back in! So instead, Gorillaz join the bill alongside Muse, Stevie Wonder, The Dead Weather and many more. The John Peel stage will have many great acts as ever, including the Foals and Holy Fuck. Full line-up here.

Poor Bono. Why does everyone have to pick on Bono? I actually LIKE Bono, you bastards…even if the last couple of U2 albums weren’t so great…
