I’m really into the artwork and of course the name of Fun. It’s happy and bright and sounds like my kind of thing.

From the start I can tell pretty quickly that this record is not for me at all. It’s as though the guy who went to theatre club wrote this: the songs are very dramatic, flamboyant and get just a bit too Meatloaf at times.

By all means it’s really not a bad record but I just can’t get into it, Mika was a bit like this but had a great access point with "Grace Kelly", but this is just all too High School Musical if The Rocket Summer rewrote it – ewww!

At times it can hit a Beach Boys meets Belle and Sebastian point which is good for guys like me. The whole album skips along different sounds, ideas and genres and is a very well formed record.

Some people will love this and I don’t blame them - it’s happy and it’s big and reminds me of old Elton John tunes at times but I won’t be singing along in the crowd.
