Album Review: The HotRats – Turn Ons

March 12, 2010

The Hotrats - Turn OnsTitle: Turn Ons
Artist: The HotRats
Label: G&D
Release Date: February 2010
In One Word: Fun

Whilst maybe not the most innovative and musically interesting release, this is a whole heap of fun. Featuring two thirds of the utterly brilliant Supergrass, this is a whole album of covers including Elvis Costello’s “Pump it Up (not Voodoo Child), The Beastie Boys “Fight For Your Right (To Party)” and a surprisingly excellent version of “Lovecats” by The Cure (a song I generally find unlistenable).

This record is a good listen, even just to hear a different side to Gaz Coombes’ inimitable vocal style.
