First of all I’d like to give a massive thank you to Diana Bailey for being so brilliant and understanding for getting us tickets to the show at quite literally the last minute. The last minute I’m talking about is around 3 songs into Suzi Quatro’s set and we’ve already missed her playing Neil Young’s Rockin’ In the Free World, when we eventually get in she’s up on stage playing a song called Your Mamma Won't Like Me and showing the same rock n’ roll ferocity she did in the 70’s.

Her band are extremely tight and complement her playing very well, the sound is excellent too; the best off-stage sound I’ve ever heard I can say with absolute certainty – SQ has people around her who know what they’re doing, they don’t mess around.

The plethora of songs she has is one gained from years of making records and she can select a set-list that will keep the audience singing along for the entirety of the show. In attendance tonight there are people who have been fans for life and certainly show that whilst they recite every last word.

Myself, being 30 years younger than the median and having been brought up on an unhealthy amount of Elvis; I don’t know all that many of Suzi Quatro songs but I enjoyed every moment of it and my other half with even less Quatro knowledge left with a big grin on her face. I found myself singing along to choruses I didn’t know and dancing along to the verses in between, the songs I did know such as 48 Crash, Can the Can and Devil Gate Drive were even better played live with Suzi’s still perfect voice and extremely positive demeanour.

Quatro doesn’t wear her bass like a necklace either; she can really play that thing and shows her musical ability whilst playing the piano during the beautiful Can I be Your Girl. She also makes it over to the drums at one point and gives them a great big whack!

SQ is a leather clad rock n’ roll machine who has been fine tuned from years of being on the road. She’s a musician that will be playing until she dies purely because she loves it and has done it for over 40 years now.

The set ends after her tribute to Elvis, the man responsible for her starting rock n’ roll and her iconic leather suit. The song Singing with Angels is a heartfelt tribute to one of the most important musical figures of all time and her glistening eyes show you she really means everything she sings.
