The View will make you crowd surf. The View will make you throw beer and The View provoke mass sing-a-longs.

The band have existed in the public eye since 2006 so their history is short but sweet. The View recorded their debut album ‘Hats off to The Buskers’ in 2007 with Oasis (What’s The Story? Morning Glory) and The Verve (A Northern Soul) producer Owen Morris. Reviews from national magazines and newspapers branded the band "Scotland’s answer to The Libertines" and "much like the Arctic Monkeys" - comparisons that I don’t agree with.

Fast forward two years and they’ve re-invented themselves. The long awaited ‘Which Bitch?’ didn’t disappoint with The View maturing in their song-writing and musical talents by adding a string section with Oliver Kraus, an arranger from New York, who features in tracks such as ‘Distant Dubloon’ and ‘Unexpected’ which proves that The View are much more than your average indie band.

After the two promising more bands from Scotland, The Brogues and Sergeant, the crowd awaited the main act. The View came on stage blasted into new song ‘Glass Smash’ with 2006 debut single ‘Wasted Little DJs’ following. You could tell the audience weren’t going to be left disappointed.

The View carried on to play a storming 19 song set which included a balanced mix of old and new songs that included old favourites ‘Skag Trendy’, ‘Wasteland’, ‘Dance into The Night’ and ‘Grans for Tea’ they then demonstrated their greater maturity by playing ‘Give back The Sun’, ‘ Temptation Dice’, ‘5 Rebeccas’, and then taking a break from an electric set which saw frontman Kyle Falconer perform acoustic versions of ‘Shock Horror’ b-side ‘Mr Men Book’, ‘Covers’ which featured keyboard player Reni who sang Paolo Nutini’s part which demonstrates the bands versatility. Sing-a-long favourite ‘Face For The Radio’ saw the audience sing over Falconer to finish the song for him. A surprise cover of Squeeze classic ‘Up The Junction’ was next.

The ending was a sweaty one. The band played fan-favourite and summer festival anthem ‘Same Jeans’ before swiftly moving on to ‘Superstar Tradesman’ followed by ‘Shock Horror’ which finished this undeniably superb evening. Even the amount of beer that was thrown tonight could not extinguish The View’s fire. Hats off.
